Arguments and the 7 Covenants

Here follows some arguments that many people have when it comes to the teaching of Torah:

1. Replacement Theology:

“Yishrael broke the covenant, now we have a new covenant.” No!

Brit Hadashah = Renewed Covenant
It did not get replaced, it got made better!

Some Christians are satisfied with the spillage/crumbs that fall from the table, and they call it the feast of the Lord! In the meanwhile they are missing everything!

There are 7 covenants in the entire Bible! The four is in the Torah. They are: the covenant with Adam, Noah, Abraham and the Fathers, Moshe and Yisrael, David, The Messiah and the Peace covenant.

The logic of replacement theology is, the covenant with Noah replaced the covenant with Adam, and Abraham replaced Naoh etc - NO!

1. The covenant with Adam still stands! Man still labors by the sweat of his brow. Women still bear children in travail!

2. The covenant with Noah still stands! The whole earth will never again be destroyed by water. We can still see the sign of this covenant - the rainbow.

3. The covenant with Abraham still stands! Yisrael’s descendants will be more than the stars in the sky. We see the sign of the stars in the heavens every night!

4. The covenant with Moshe and the house of Yisrael still stands! In Leviticus Elohim states: “Even though you were unfaithful, I will be faithful. I will remember the covenant for the sake of the fathers, and bring you back to the land”...This is the covenant we are apart of now!

5. The covenant with David still stands, but is not yet fulfilled! The Messiah, the seed of David, will sit on the throne and rule from Yerushalayim!

6. The covenant of Messiah – “…will not be complete until all man knows Elohim”

7. The covenant of Peace is not yet established. It will happen in the 1000 reign, and then all will be complete. This is the first and only covenant Elohim makes with the Gentiles.

As a gentile you can be added to the covenant of Yisrael, but it still is a covenant between Yisrael and Elohim.

2. The only command is to love -
we have discussed this in detail. To love the Father and the Son is to keep their commandments. On this the whole law and the prophets hang.
(read article on Ten commandments)

3. The law was nailed to the cross, and if you try to keep the commands, Yahshua is of no use to you. Galatians.

No! What died on the cross was the decree of death against willful sin. Because the Torah says that if you sin willfully, you deserve death. We all deserve death. Yehshua took this decree away from us, He saved us!

He did not take away the law; He took away the penalty for breaking the law!

Where it states in Galatians 2:21: “I do not set aside the favour of Elohim, for if righteousness is through Torah, then Messiah died for naught”

Yes! That is correct! This verse is not against obeying Torah! Remember what I said last week?

Torah teaches:

Faith = Righteousness

Obedience = Blessing

If you are trying to get saved by keeping Torah, the Yehshua is of no purpose to you! The Torah doesn’t save!

It continues in Gal 3:1 “O you senseless Galatians! Who has put you under a spell, not to obey the truth?”

4. “We stand under the authority of the church fathers”

The church fathers decided that a lot of the Christian customs is to “Jewish”. They do not want to keep Passover, because it is to Jewish. They do not want to keep Sabbath because it is to Jewish.

These are not Jewish customs, it is Scriptural! Most of the Jews are so far from Torah, it will take a miracle for them to find their way back.

So the church fathers, especially Constantine made some new holidays like Easter and Christmas.

Ask me for the book, “The great falling away” by Don Esposito, if you would like to read more about this.

Our church is unfortunately full of heathen practices! This doesn’t mean that the Spirit does not operate there or that all churchgoers are doomed! No, off course not! But when you walk with Elohim, you grow…in the end times He will call his bride to come out of Babel. The bride needs to be clean, free from all idolatry!

One day you will stand alone before the Father and Yehshua....your mentor, preacher or pastor is not going to hold your hand OR take responsibility for what you believe.

5. “It is Legalism!”

No! Legalism is bad compulsive behavior! The Scripture teaches us that if you obey the commandments of YHWH, it is called obedience. But if you obey the commandments of men, you have been taken captive. The children of Yisrael were captives in the land of Egypt, but Elohim made them free! Then why did He give them all these commands?

Which nation thinks they own freedom? America! And yet they have the most laws in the world! It is because the law doesn’t hurt them, it protects them!

If you can see the wisdom of traffic laws, if you can understand that you are not a slave because you are living in a land with laws, then why can’t you see that keeping the commandments of YHWH will protect you? Its not legalism!!

Another distorted teaching is Mat 5:17 -48 "...if one slaps you on the cheek, turn the other cheek..."

It sounds like He is speaking Torah, but then He says something else? Is the Messiah contradicting Torah? No! Read the rest of the Torah portion that He quoted “...but if the man be a servant, he shall be set free!”
Yehshua came to teach a particular set of commands; He was filling up Moshe’s teachings;
Mat 5 speaks to the servants of YHWH.

The first set of commands after the 10 Commandments is called; “The law of the bond servant” – The servant, who for the reason of love, turns his freedom into further service.
Ex 21.

Now that YHWH has made us free from sin, what are we going to do with our freedom? We can go out as free men, doing as we wish, or we can say, Father, I like being in Your house, I like You! Thank You For my life, for my freedom…and for the reason of love I will not go out as a free man, but I will be your servant. The Torah then specifies that man must be maid a servant for life! There are commandments for bond servants.

It goes on to say that if a bond servant gets struck by another person, so that he suffers injury, he gets his justice or retribution from his Master. He does not get it from the other man, his master will deal with the other man. Thus if a man does slap you on the cheek, turn your other cheek, because you do not get your justice from him, you get your justice from Me! I, YHWH will revenge you!

Rom 12:19; ”Beloved, do not revenge yourselves, but give place to the wrath, for it has been written, “Vengeance is Mine, I shall repay,” says YHWH””

The Word teaches us that we are bond servants of the Messiah. That is why Paul and John said “I am a bond servant of Messiah, called an apostle”. Yehshua came as a servant of the Father.

6. Grace vs Law

Grace = unmerited favour/receiving something you did not deserve. To be saved.

Mercy = Not getting something you do deserve. Not getting the death sentence.

YHWH saved us by grace! Yehshua getting crucified on our behalf - Not having to die ourselves is mercy!
