Not all the laws in the Torah is applicable to you! You have to learn to know what is still applicable to you. There are seven sets of laws.
1. Priests and Temple service
2. Laws on how to act towards YHWH:
- Laws for men
- Laws for women
- Laws for fathers as appose to husbands….
3. Laws on how to act toward people:
- Ex: When you borrowed something from your neighbour, and it gets lost/broken, how do I replace it...
- Teaches us how to solve squabbles between men
- Teaches us how to deal with murder and robbery etc.
4. How to treat animals
5. How to worship Him: Teaches you how to keep the Sabbath, the Festivals and how to fasts.
6. Laws for the Land of Yisrael: 7 year Sabbath etc.
7. Moral law
They say the Torah has the perfect law for society...it is a shame our governments does not use it...

The Commandments to the Gentiles
Acts15:19-21 “Therefore I judge that we should not trouble those from among the gentiles who are turning to Elohim, but that we write to them to abstain from the defilement of idols, from whoring and from all that is strangled and from blood. “For from ancient generations Moshe has, in every city, those proclaiming him – being read in the congregation every Sabbath””
They have to abstain from these four things, idol worship, incest/fornication, blood and all things strangled. He then tells them if they do not know these rules, they should go and listen to the teaching of Moshe in the synagogue on a Sabbath.
How could they 'not know', he just listed them....It is because it refers to passages in the Torah!
Where do Moshe speak of these things? Lev 17+18
This is called the heart of the Torah. These are things that measure your heart: So it is important to know what these things mean. Do you know what each of these things mean? Go read in Leviticus to understand, I will try to explain the concepts. Now remember this was written for the gentiles, the new believers, like you and me.
Meat sacrificed to idols / idol worship:
The Torah teaches that if you built an altar for Elohim at a place He did not instruct you to, even though you mean good, He will see it as idol worship. He will see it as the golden calf.
You will worship Him like He tells you to, not the way you want to. And Torah teaches us how to worship Him His way.
There is a group of people who worship naked! They feel it is their way to worship! But the Torah says you shall not come and show any nakedness or immodesty in His presence. Even the priests had to build a ramp and not stairs to prevent any immodesty in His presence. It makes you think of how people, especially women and girls, dress these days? To see a woman in underwear on the side of a bus is common and acceptable to most.
If you compromise one principle of your faith, it is called meat sacrificed to Idols.
Fornication:
Torah gives more detail on this, it includes incest, homosexuality, sex with animals etc. (Lev 18) It is very straight forward, and again it begins with lust.
Things strangled and blood:
This is kosher food. The Torah gives you detail about what to and what not to eat. Does this mean the Brit Hadashah (the New Covenant) say we must eat Kosher? Yes.
Remember we discussed in the first lesson the difference between faith and obedience?
Faith = righteousness = salvation
Obedience = Blessing
To eat Kosher is obedience and out of that will flow health and blessing. It will not determine your salvation! Follow the Scripture’s definition of Kosher and not the Jew’s!
Again, I do not want to convince you to do anything, I just want to show you what the Scripture says.
Mark 7:14 in some bibles it is added in Italics “And thus he declared all food clean”. It is written in italics, because it was not found in the original manuscripts! Men added this to justify their own going astray. If you read this whole chapter you will see it does not speak about food at all but about the pureness of ones heart.
Torah says it does not qualify as food if it was not a clean animal to begin with and if it was not slaughtered in a kosher way. Ex: a cow standing out in a field does not qualify as food! If a truck hits it, you can’t eat it. It is road kill!
Look at the animals listed in the Scriptures that are classified as unclean - you will notice that scientifically they are proven to be bad for your health. They either contain high quantities of certain chemicals that are bad for you, parasites and or diseases. These food guidelines were only given to us to protect us!
To eat kosher:
1. Has to be a clean animal
2. Slaughtered correctly – The life of the animal has to be ended mercifully. He shouldn’t struggle in his death.
You allow the honour of the life of the animal to be given back to Elohim quickly, not tortuously.
If you torture it, you make the animal suffer and it is not kosher any more. If you beat the animal to death with a hammer, he is not kosher. You have to spill his blood; you must let the blood of the animal evacuate the body quickly and allow it to return to Elohim, because Torah teaches us that the life is in the blood.
This is spiritual law. Respect the life of the animal; kosher law has to do with the sanctity of life. When we eat meat, we eat flesh; the life of the animal was given to us so that we might have life!
Torah also teaches that if you were to walk in a path and find a nest that has fallen out of a tree, you MUST put it back. You must respect the life YHWH made. If an animal has fallen into a pit, you are commanded to rescue it!
The preferred ancient method for killing pigs was by means of strangulation. First it is not a clean animal and secondly it was strangled! Thus the blood is still in the flesh.
One of the biggest causes of cancer is blood and red meat.

The Ten Commandments
The Ten Commandments was given to the nation of Yishrael on Mount Sinai. The Ten Commandments is also called the Ketubah which means marriage vow. If you believe in the Messiah and agree to keep the Commandments, then you enter covenant/marriage with Elohim.
When Moshe came down the mountain, he saw Israel had made a golden calf, and he broke the tablets of stone. Why? Was it because he was mad? No, he was interceding for Yisrael.
YHWH was so mad at Yisrael; He wanted to destroy the whole nation. But Moses broke the contract, telling Elohim that He can’t destroy them, they have not seen the marriage vows!
Remember, they wanted to worship Elohim, but they only knew the heathen way. They worshiped Elohim through the golden calf…they wanted to worship Him in their own way. Don’t we also do it sometimes?
2.2 What is the Greatest Commandment?
Matt 22:36 – “And Yehshua said to him, “ ‘You shall love YHWH your Elohim with all your heart, and with all your being, and with all your mind’””
Love the Father and the Son.
John 14:15,21 “If you love Me, you shall guard My commands”, ”He who possesses My commands and guards them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I shall love him and manifest Myself to him.”
Also verse 23-24, and 15:7, 10
In Matt 22:36 Yehshua is quoting Torah! He is quoting Deut 6:5.
A very important part is
Deut 6:4 “Hear, O Yisrael, YHWH your Elohim, YHWH is one!”
In Hebrew it goes: “Shma Yisrael, YHWH Eliheinu, YHWH echad!”
This is called the watchword of Yisrael, a prayer. They say one could hear all the Jews praying the Shma before they entered into the gas chambers.
Shma = Hear, understand and do.
Shma consists of three letters = shin, mem, ain.
In the Torah Scroll the letter Ain is written bigger than the rest. Why? The ain and the alef have the same sound. They wrote the ain bigger than the rest of the word, so that the scribes will take note not to accidentally write the letter alef in its place.
Because Shma spelled with an alef means Perhaps?. -
“Perhaps, O Yisrael…” No! What is the command/issue?
IF YOU COME TO YHWH, YOU MUST BELIEVE THAT HE IS!
First commandment: “I am YHWH your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim, out of the house of slavery”
Interesting that the first command is not written like the rest of the commands, but it is written as a statement. Again, you must first hear and believe that He is your Elohim who brought you out of this World into His kingdom. He cannot command you, you must believe!
Read the 10 Commandments backwards:
10. “You shall not covet”
9. “You shall not bear false witness”
8. “You shall not steal”
7. “You shall not commit Adultery”
6. “You shall not murder”
5. “You shall honour your father and your mother”
4. “Remember the Sabbath, set it apart”
3. “Do not make My name to naught”
2. “No other mighty ones”
1. “Believe in Me, trust Me”
2.4 Which command was broken first?
The first commandment was broken first! Yehshua said if you break the least of the commands you break them all! Why?
If you break any of the commands, it is because you are breaking the first! If you do not believe, you do not love! It does not mean that only the first two commands are still applicable! No!
But on the first two commands hang the whole law and the prophets!!
Because it is not possible for you to say you love Elohim and:
- not believe in Him
- take His name in vain
- worship Idols (anything that is more important to you than Elohim is an idol)
- and not keep the Sabbath
- and not honour your father and mother
- ect
Also Adam and Eve broke the first command - They did not believe the words of the living Elohim, and decided to test His words!
Another command that precedes most of the commands it the tenth command: "You shall not covet"
Why do I say this? Because a lot of sin starts with coveting! People, who steel, first coveted another's possessions. The one who committed adultery, first coveted another's wife/husband.
Covet is about lust. You need to learn to control your lust, because your lust will kill you. It is not just about sex, it is about all matters in life. If you want more than you need, you lust after it. YHWH will provide in your needs, but not your wants. I am not saying that YHWH does not bless us in our lives; all I am saying is to watch out for what you want. Your wants should not control your heart!
Remember when Yishrael was asking Elohim to provide them with meat in the dessert? (Num11). They were at the sea where they could catch fish and they had flocks at their feet, which they could have slaughtered. But they still asked for more meat! So YHWH gave them meat, and as soon as anyone's teeth touched it, they died. Not even YHWH can satisfy your lust!

The Marriage Contract
It is important to understand the difference between The Commandments, The Torah (His Teachings), His Convocations and lastly the Law (Sacrificial). The Law was added due to transgressions of the first 3. Yehshua fulfilled of the Law, by being the perfect Sacrifice.
The 10 Commandments in Hebrew is called Ketubah -which means marriage contract. Moses did not break the first set of Tablets because he was mad! No! He broke it, to intercede for the people, because the Father wanted to kill all of Yishrael. But Moses broke the marriage contract, because they have not seen the commandments (requirements) yet, thus giving them a chance to repent. Remember we are only judged by what we know.
The Messiah said that the biggest commandment is Love - because all 10 commandments revolve around love - the Marriage!!!
Rev 22:14 states (in old translation!! new translation wrong) that you have to
1) believe in the Messiah
2) have to obey the commands to be able to eat of the tree of Life.
Once you Believe, you become part of the bride, once you are part of the bride, you have to uphold the marriage contract. Otherwise you might just be another guest at the wedding, and not part of the Bride!
